The 64 × 32 pixel range imaging camera is based on a single-photon avalanche diode (SPAD) array fabricated in 0.35µm CMOS technology at Fraunhofer IMS. With integrated counters and support for external illuminators it features multiple acquisition modes, such as gated and continuous photon counting modes, to meet requirements for a variety of applications. Range imaging is implemented by means of phase-resolved indirect time-of-flight (iToF) measurements on the pixel level, using continuous-wave or pulse-modulated illumination. Due to its pixel-level gated imaging capability the camera can cover a broad range of applications like Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), Autonomous Driving, Navigation, Robotic, Traffic Monitoring, Gesture Recognition, Inspection of Goods, Surveillance and Topographic Mapping to mention a few. The SPAD camera complies with eye-safety regulations according to IEC 62471 and exhibits an accuracy of better than 85cm at a distance of 20m.
